THE BACK BODY SCRUBBER

Benefits
  • Awakening cells. Some sources proclaim that scrubbing tonifies the skin, and reduces cellulite and acne. We prefer to reframe this as reducing stagnancy in the cells. Increasing the blood flow to an area, enhances the natural processes of the cells, like detoxification and self-rejuvenation.
  • Lymphatic Support and Immunity. Many components of the lymphatic system lie just below the skin's surface.  Scrubbing can stimulate these nodes, vessels and glands and boost the elimination process of the cells. Less toxins in the system supports better function of the immune system.
  • Stimulates cellular regeneration. We are boosting the skin's natural functions and part of this is self-repair.
Scrubbing basics

How often?

  • Some practitioners suggest to scrub lightly , everyday, before bathing.
  • Depending on your lifestyle , weekly, bi-weekly or monthly scrubbing could be ideal.  Winter is a great time to get scrubbing, we are often have dryer skin, and we are wearing thicker clothes so our skin is not being aerated.

Be Mindful.

  • If you have skin conditions, please consult your doctor.
  • If you have sun burn, rashes or broken skin, avoid those areas or wait for the areas to fully heal.
  • Be gentle, as some sensitive skin types don't need much pressure to produce results.
  • Stay hydrated.
  • If you are energized by scrubbing, perhaps try scrub in the morning and shine inside and out throughout your day!

Travel Tip: Dry scrub after long journeys to re-balance your body from the effects of stagnation.

Our Practice
  • Starting at the feet, brush the bottoms of your feet, between the toes and up your legs in long, smooth strokes. Always brush toward the center of the body and up towards the heart.
  • Repeat the same process with the arms, starting with the palms of the hands, between the fingers and brushing up the arm toward the heart.
  • On the stomach and armpits, brush in a circular clockwise motion.
  • Areas behind the knees, the inner thighs, the elbows and the back of the neck are often areas in need of a little extra attention.
  • Rinse and moisturize to your preference ,knowing that your pores are open and available for absorption.

Hot tip : good tunes and dance moves make scrubbing a whole new level of self-care!
